Napier is famous the world over for its abundance of Art Deco architecture. Built between 1920 and 1940 the Art Deco inventory includes buildings that were constructed during a period of intense building activity before the catastrophic earthquake of 1931 and those built in the aftermath.
The reference numbers and names associated with the buildings comes from the Art Deco Inventory first published in 1991 and compiled by Amanda Bilman and Tom Gill for the Art Deco Trust in association with Napier City Council.
This was revised in 1995 & 1997 by Kristen Ratcliffe (Napier City Council).
There are a number of architectural styles to be discovered in Napier, these include: Art Deco, Stripped Classical, The International Style, Spanish Mission, The Chicago and Prairie Style as well as traditional Colonial vernacular.
This is a relatively simple model to complete and comes with clear easy to follow instruction. The final result is a nicely detailed model of an Iconic Art Deco building and something thats nice to display.
